Ball & Roller Bearing

The Ball & Roller Bearing Division of Gwilliam Company, Inc. is a veteran-owned, small business, domestic manufacturer of cylindrical roller thrust, radial roller, groove and flat race ball thrust and journal roller bearings located in New Milford, Connecticut.  We have been manufacturing these types of bearings in Connecticut continuously since 1906.  All of our sales and marketing, procurement, manufacturing, assembly, inspection, engineering and design work is done in house at our facility in New Milford.

Each component part of  our bearings are manufactured pursuant to process control sheets which contain all machined and finish dimensions and tolerances.  All of our bearings are made to ABMA, ABEC 1 or RBEC 1 standards and tolerances unless otherwise required.  All of our raw materials are purchased from domestic suppliers and certificates of compliance are received and kept in our permanent files for traceability should the need arise.  When required, all of our bearings are DFARS 252.225-7016 compliant and certified to be such.

We outsource our heat treating operation to a few select qualified heat treaters and all heat treated materials are certified by the heat treater and are inspected here upon arrival to ensure the required hardness has been achieved.  Any other procedures or processes which require outsourcing are also done with domestic suppliers and are accompanied with all required proper certifications.

Our metrological instrumentation is calibrated by an independent certified calibration lab pursuant to MIL I 45208 A requirements.  Throughout each step of the manufacturing process, our quality control measures ensure that each piece has been made properly before it is moved on to the next operation.
