The cutter heads are heavy, which ensures smooth running. The wood chips are gently discharged through the large openings in the cutter heads. Depending on the cutting depth, the heads are designed in two or three stages. The number of chopping knives per stage depends on the feed, speed and the desired wood chip length. Depending on the operating conditions, either saw rings or finishing knives can be used. The separately mounted plates built into the heads serve to guide the wood and thus have a positive effect on the dimensional accuracy of the timber.
