GROOVING TOOLS & PARTING TOOLS

Get high productivity and long tool life with our exceptional tools for grooving and parting. Knight Carbide has the most efficient, multi-functional tool for face grooving and turning operations at any grade.

Successful parting and grooving operations require careful tool selection based on multiple factors, including the component material and the shape, depth and diameter of the cut. Choosing the right tool for the job with the correct setup can steer you clear of trouble throughout the machining process.

Our highly regarded parting and grooving inserts are available for special groove widths, radii, back chamfering and other features, and can be used to make external or internal grooves, each having its own considerations when selecting the right insert for the job.

The right Knight Carbide parting and grooving inserts will protect you from excessive chip jams, time-consuming tool breakages, and many other costly pitfalls awaiting those who choose not to take full advantage of Knight Carbides’s 50 years of insight and expertise when planning their parting and grooving operations.

ENGINEERED FOR EVERY PARTING AND GROOVING INSERT OPERATION

Knight Carbide produces exceptional parting tools and grooving tools to suit a vast array of applications for components of all description. Whether parting off a smaller-scale component or creating a deep internal groove with a large diameter, Knight Carbide specializes in determining the exact specifications required to perfectly suit the needs of each client.

External grooving, internal grooving, face grooving and parting can all be accomplished efficiently and expertly with Knight-Carbide inserts. Maximum productivity and cost-effectiveness are achieved only when the optimal tool is selected. Small, wide, shallow or deep, each groove comes with its own challenges. Meanwhile, every component material has unique properties and limitations as well. And they all affect the shape, size and grade of the ideal tool for the job.

EXTERNAL GROOVING INSERTS

The array of cutting techniques that are known as external grooving includes single-cut and multiple grooving, roughing, plunge turning, ramping and others. In the world of grooving, these are among the least challenging operations to perform. Each has its distinct purpose in practice, depending on the geometry of the groove and the properties of the component material.

INTERNAL GROOVING INSERTS

Radial grooving, multiple grooving and plunge turning are the main styles of internal grooving. Long overhangs and chip accumulation are two of the typical complications inherent in the process. Long overhangs make it more difficult to extract chips from the cutting path in internal grooving. This, together with any vibration or deflection can contribute to the hazards of internal grooving, resulting in higher insert breakage and compromised quality of the finished component.

FACE GROOVING TOOLS

Axial grooving on the face of a component is an exercise in precision and planning. The geometries involved make chip extraction difficult and can lead to tool failure. Knight Carbide’s meticulously engineered face grooving inserts are designed to get your results with the maximum stability and chip control.

PARTING TOOLS

Usually occurring toward the end of the machining process, parting is a very costly stage at which to experience a failure. Knight Carbide is vigilant about taking every precaution to ensure that never happens. Edge cooling and chip evacuation management are prioritized throughout, but especially during parting.
