Aluminum

Pattern cards with aluminum are primarily used for LED products, amplifiers, power supplies and other places where extra cooling is needed.

1-layer aluminum

The most common aluminum card is single-sided. The finished laminate is purchased with copper, a thin insulator (FR4) and aluminium. The card is produced roughly like a normal 1-layer card.

2-layer aluminum

2 layer aluminum print can be made either with aluminum carrier or aluminum core.

Aluminum core is the most expensive variant as the holes have to be drilled in two different operations. After the first drilling, it is filled with epoxy, which is then drilled again with the final drilling diameter and then stained in the normal way.

With aluminum carrier, a 2-layer card is produced, then an aluminum plate is pressed on one side. You can get more than 2 layers before the aluminum carrier is pressed on.
