Introduction:

The Turkish State Hydraulic Works (Devlet Su Isleri, DSI) has awarded international technology group ANDRITZ a contract to supply the electro-mechanical equipment for the new 160 MW Silvan hydropower plant in Turkey.

Features:

ANDRITZ will provide four 40 MW turbines, four generators, associated equipment for the hydropower plant, and a 154 kV switchyard system.

Strategically situated on the Kulp Stream near Diyarbakir in Turkey’s Southeast Anatolia Region, the Silvan hydropower plant will play a crucial role in the country's energy infrastructure. Once operational, it is expected to generate 681 GWh of electricity annually, significantly contributing to Turkey’s energy supply while reducing its carbon footprint.

ANDRITZ has a long-standing presence in Turkey, having been active in the country for nearly a century with a company based in Izmir. Over the years, ANDRITZ has supplied or refurbished turbines and generators with a combined capacity of approximately 16,000 MW in Turkey, representing a market share of nearly 60%. Hydropower constitutes 20.7% of Turkey’s total installed capacity.
