ANDRITZ to supply new direct-fired furnace to ArcelorMittal in France

5 February 2018

International technology group ANDRITZ has received an order from ArcelorMittal Atlantique & Lorraine S.A.S. to supply a direct-fired furnace for its new continuous galvanizing line at the plant in Florange, France.

The ANDRITZ scope of supply and services further includes engineering, the automation and electrical equipment, as well as supervision of erection work and commissioning. Start-up is planned for the third quarter of 2019.

The order is part of ArcelorMittal’s project to convert an electro-galvanizing line to a continuous galvanizing line in the Florange plant, thus further strengthening its market position in advanced high-strength steels for the automotive industry.

This order once again confirms the extensive and successful business relationship between ANDRITZ and ArcelorMittal. Following the deliveries to ArcelorMittal’s plants in Kessales and Ghent, this will be the third direct-fired furnace to be supplied to ArcelorMittal in three years.

Florange is one of the three ArcelorMittal plants producing Usibor® and Alusi® steel strip with widths of up to 1,850 mm. The new line will be able to produce Usibor steel grades.
